About this course

Production Planning (PP) is the SAP S/4HANA module that plans and runs manufacturing: what to make, when, on which work center and with which components. Every manufacturing company on SAP needs PP consultants and key users who understand both the business process and its configuration.

The course starts with S/4HANA itself (the move from ECC, SAP GUI and Fiori, the SAP Activate methodology and the enterprise structure) and the PP master data: material master, bills of materials, work centers, routings and production versions. You then plan demand with SOP and planned independent requirements, using make-to-stock and make-to-order strategies and advanced ATP, run MRP Live and analyse the results in MD04 and MD05, and see how demand-driven replenishment (DDMRP) works.

On the shop floor you create, check, release and confirm production orders, plan and level capacity, schedule, post goods movements and settle costs. The course closes with repetitive manufacturing, process industries (PP-PI), Kanban, embedded PP/DS, batch and serial number management, and the customizing behind it all. Every topic is shown live in an SAP S/4HANA system, and every session is recorded.

What you will learn

  • Work in SAP S/4HANA with SAP GUI and Fiori, and know the SAP Activate project phases
  • Set up PP master data: material master, BOM, work center, routing and production version
  • Plan demand with SOP, planned independent requirements and make-to-stock and make-to-order strategies
  • Run MRP Live (MD01N) and analyse the stock/requirements list (MD04) and the MRP list (MD05)
  • Create, release, confirm and settle production orders, with availability checks and capacity planning
  • Use repetitive manufacturing, PP-PI, Kanban, embedded PP/DS and batch management
  • Configure PP: number ranges, MRP settings and order type dependent parameters
