About this course
SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) is where companies build what S/4HANA does not do out of the box: side-by-side extensions, integrations, custom apps and AI use cases, while keeping the core clean. SAP's clean-core rule for S/4HANA Cloud has made BTP skills the fastest-growing and best-paid technical profile in the SAP market, and every RISE and GROW with SAP customer needs developers who can build on it.
The course starts with the platform itself: global accounts, subaccounts, entitlements, the Cloud Foundry environment, SAP HANA Cloud and SAP Business Application Studio. You then build a complete application with the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model (CAP): the domain model in CDS, OData services, custom logic in Node.js, draft handling, localisation, persistence in SAP HANA Cloud, a Fiori elements user interface driven by annotations, authentication and authorisation with XSUAA and the Identity Authentication Service, and S/4HANA APIs consumed through destinations and the Cloud Connector.
You then integrate systems with SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration iFlows, mappings, API Management and event-driven extensions with Event Mesh), package and deploy the application as an MTA with CI/CD, and see where ABAP Cloud and RAP fit beside CAP. The course ends with an end-to-end project (an S/4HANA extension app on BTP) and preparation for the SAP Certified Associate exams for the CAP back-end developer and the integration developer. Every topic is built live on SAP BTP, and every session is recorded.
What you will learn
- Understand SAP BTP: global accounts, subaccounts, entitlements, Cloud Foundry, services and the clean-core extension model
- Work in SAP Business Application Studio with Git, the cf CLI and SAP HANA Cloud
- Model a domain in CDS (entities, associations, compositions, aspects) and expose OData V4 services with CAP
- Write custom logic in Node.js: event handlers, cds.ql queries, validations, actions, drafts and localisation
- Deploy the data model to SAP HANA Cloud with HDI containers
- Build Fiori elements apps (List Report, Object Page) from annotations with SAP Fiori tools
- Secure apps with XSUAA, role collections, the App Router and the Identity Authentication Service
- Consume S/4HANA APIs from the Business Accelerator Hub through destinations and the Cloud Connector
- Integrate with SAP Integration Suite (iFlows, mappings, API Management, Event Mesh), deploy with MTA and CI/CD, and prepare for the SAP Certified Associate exams (C_CPE, C_CPI)
Requirements
- Basic programming knowledge (JavaScript, ABAP or any language) and comfort with the command line; no BTP experience needed
- Best suited to ABAP and web developers, SAP technical consultants and Fiori developers moving to cloud development
- A laptop with a stable internet connection; a free SAP BTP trial account is set up in the first session
