Python Backend Development (Backend): Django, FastAPI, REST APIs and PostgreSQL
Learn backend development with Python live: Django and Django REST Framework, FastAPI, PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy, authentication, testing, Celery, Docker, CI/CD and deployment, with two portfolio APIs.
Live batches with a trainer · Level: Intermediate · Duration: 50 hours · Language: English · Fee: ₹19,999
About this course
Python backends power startups, fintech, ed-tech and AI products: Django for full-featured applications and FastAPI for fast, typed APIs. Backend developer is a well-paid, stable role, and Python is the shortest path into it for anyone who already knows the basics of the language.
The course starts with the web fundamentals a backend developer needs (HTTP, REST, JSON, databases) and PostgreSQL with SQL, then Django: models, migrations, the ORM, the admin, views, templates, forms and authentication, and Django REST Framework for APIs with serializers, viewsets, permissions, filtering, pagination and JWT. You then learn FastAPI: Pydantic models, dependency injection, async endpoints, SQLAlchemy, Alembic migrations, OAuth2 and background tasks.
You then make backends production-ready: testing with pytest, caching with Redis, background jobs with Celery, WebSockets, file storage, security (OWASP), logging and monitoring, Docker, CI/CD with GitHub Actions and deployment on AWS or Render with PostgreSQL. The course ends with two portfolio APIs (an e-commerce backend in Django and a service in FastAPI) and interview preparation. Every topic is coded live, and every session is recorded.
What you will learn
- Understand HTTP, REST, JSON and how backends, databases and front ends fit together
- Design databases in PostgreSQL and write SQL; use the Django ORM and SQLAlchemy
- Build Django applications: models, migrations, admin, views, templates, forms and authentication
- Build REST APIs with Django REST Framework: serializers, viewsets, permissions, filtering, pagination and JWT
- Build FastAPI services: Pydantic, dependency injection, async endpoints, Alembic and OAuth2
- Test with pytest, cache with Redis, run background jobs with Celery and add WebSockets
- Secure backends (OWASP top 10), log and monitor them
- Containerise with Docker, automate with GitHub Actions and deploy on AWS or Render
- Finish two portfolio APIs and prepare for backend interviews
Requirements
- Python basics (functions, classes, modules); the Python course covers this
- Best suited to Python developers, data people moving to engineering, computer science graduates and front-end developers going full stack
- A laptop with a stable internet connection
